MMT Company Spotlight: Meet Cathy Alaimo
Cathy first came to MMT to see a couple of her friends in our production of A Chorus Line, and was really impressed by the quality of the production as well as the theatre itself. The next day, she checked out our website, saw that the next round of auditions were coming up and signed up to come to our in-person call. She was cast in the ensemble of The Music Man and has come to really cherish all the time she has spent with the company.
When she is not on the MMT stage, Cathy enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, seeing theatre locally or in NYC (or anywhere really!), and can be found in our theatre audience supporting the cast and crew of whichever show may be currently performing. Cathy also works as a Media Coordinator with Forest Incentives.
When asked what the best thing is about MMT, Cathy responds that it is “The community here is the best thing in my opinion. From my very first rehearsal, I always felt welcome.” Her biggest takeaway from now being a part of that community? “I feel lifted up every time I work on a show at MMT. Having lots of other experience in community theatre, I can tell you that's a rare thing indeed.”
Cathy’s favorite role that she has brought to life on the MMT stage thus far has been playing Puffer in The Mystery of Edwin Brood, and she dreams of one day playing M’Lynn in the play Steel Magnolias. Our production of Head Over Heels back in 2021 is her favorite show she has seen at Music Mountain so far.
We are so glad Cathy came to see one of our productions and was driven to sign up to audition herself. Since 2018, she has been seen in 11 productions, is currently in her 12th MMT show, and joins us as a resident company member for this season. Don’t miss seeing Cathy back on the MMT Stage, enchanting audiences as Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast playing through October 6th!
